What this actually is

The programme

Kamalaya says Sleep Enhancement is designed to create supportive conditions for deep, restorative sleep. It says personalised guidance explores the mental and emotional factors that may affect sleep and gives practical tools for healthier sleep patterns, alongside massage, herbal and nutraceutical supplements and nutritional guidance. Bioresonance therapy is included only from eleven nights.

Every length includes Traditional Chinese Medicine sessions, Shirodhara, a Royal Ayurvedic massage, a traditional Asian foot massage with herbal soak, Mind-Body Balance sessions, and brain-stimulation and neuromodulation therapy — which the property describes as electrical stimulation through the ear. From eight nights, IV, ozone and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are added.

The programme is sold at 5, 8, 11, 15 or 21 nights; Kamalaya says five nights is intended as an add-on to another programme. The package price excludes accommodation, and the booking flow asks you to choose a room and dates first. Every guest is offered a complimentary pre-arrival consultation, and five nights or more with a programme brings 12 months of post-stay support.

Is this your kind of stay?

Who it may suit, and when to consider another option

Use both columns as travel-planning guidance. Final medical suitability must be discussed with your own doctor and the qualified team at the property.

Consider this if

  • Building stress resilience — on the property’s ‘recommended for’ list
  • Calming the nervous system — also on the property’s list
  • Restoring a restful night’s sleep — also on the property’s list
  • Learning tools to calm a busy mind, one of the programme goals the property states

Consider another option if

  • People with claustrophobia, for the hyperbaric oxygen therapy included from eight nights — the property says it is not suitable for them
  • Children aged 0 to 16 — Kamalaya says they may not take part in any wellness activities or treatments

Where you stay

Kamalaya

A programme-led wellness resort on Samui’s south-east coast, opened in 2005 around a cave the property says is centuries old and was once used by Buddhist monks for meditation retreat. Its menu lists 20 named programmes.

First-time guests must book at least a 3-night wellness programme, and cancellations within 7 days of arrival, early check-outs and no-shows are charged at 100%. Kamalaya describes itself as perched on a 55-metre-high hillside sloping down to the beach; its pages do not mention step-free access. Phones and laptops are not to be used in public areas outside the Library. Its FAQ warns of occasional strong currents in the lagoon, with no lifeguard on duty.

Who looks after you

Supervision, by qualification and number

Clinical and practitioner teams are described by role and qualification rather than by individual name, because staffing changes. The property will confirm the current team and explain how practitioners are assigned before or on arrival.

Clinical supervision
Kamalaya says its Wellness Sanctuary has over 100 certified wellness professionals. It says ozone therapy is supervised by its in-house medical team, and that the medical team examines a guest before hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The team around you
The programme page lists a Wellness Consultant, TCM Practitioners and a Life Enhancement Mentor; its 2027–28 listing names Naturopaths, TCM Practitioners and Life Enhancement Mentors.
Consultations
At eight nights: wellness, naturopathic, initial TCM and homoeopathy or Bach flower consultations, plus a departure review.
Your call with us is for travel planning. We can help compare the programme, destination, length, season and journey logistics. Medical questions belong with your own doctor and the qualified practitioners at the property.

Questions

Before you ask

Do I have to book a wellness programme to stay?
Kamalaya requires first-time guests to book a wellness programme of at least three nights during their stay.
Is there a minimum stay?
The property has a three-night minimum stay through the year, and seven nights from 20 December to 11 January. It recommends staying at least seven nights.
Can treatments in the programme be changed?
Kamalaya says treatments can be changed or cancelled after check-in, subject to availability, though changes may affect results. A cancelled treatment earns an 80% credit, usable only on its Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa menu — not visiting practitioners, food and beverage, accommodation or retail. Reinstating one costs full retail.
What if a practitioner advises against a treatment?
The property says that if its health practitioners advise against a treatment in your package, you receive an 80% credit for that treatment.
What is the cancellation policy?
Kamalaya charges 50% of the full booking for cancellations within 21 days of arrival and 100% within 7 days; from 20 December to 11 January, 50% within 45 days. Non-arrival or early check-out is charged at 100% of the booking for the full stay. The property advises travel insurance.
Will a programme leave time for activity classes?
Asked about special programmes such as Detox or Asian Bliss, the property says treatments can be scheduled so guests can still join its activity classes.
Is Kamalaya suitable for someone travelling alone?
The property says yes. It says many guests visit on their own, and there is a Community Table at dinner for guests who would like company.
When is the rainy season?
Kamalaya gives Koh Samui’s rainy season as late October to December.
