At a glance
Who this house is for
Someone who wants Ayurveda with published programmes and a daily timetable, and who will confirm the rate, stay length and room in writing before paying. Not for anyone who needs a named accreditation or one clear rate first. For stroke, the stroke page’s FAQ says rehabilitation can take 'a few weeks to several months or even longer'.
The signature
Akantamaya, which the yoga page calls 'our signature Ayur - Yoga retreat' — a two-day schedule of yoga, Prakriti analysis, a home remedy class and an Ayurveda therapy.

What it is known for
Why this house has the reputation it has
- The site traces its authority to a physician lineage it says began in 1952 with a palace physician to the Kochi royal family, who founded Sree Rudravilasam Vaidyasala.
- The wellness page publishes nine named programmes, covering purification, stress, weight, skin, digestion and gynaecological care among others, most running 7, 14, 21 or 28 days. For Panchakarma it recommends a minimum seven-night stay.
- Separate protocol pages cover back pain, spine and neck disorders, stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s and trigeminal neuralgia in Ayurvedic diagnostic terms, and the homepage says each treatment is 'prescribed following consultation' with its physicians.
- The day is published hour by hour, from Dinacharya at 6am to dinner at 7pm. The package lists pre-arrival, arrival and post-departure doctor consultations, full-board Ayurvedic meals, daily treatments, yoga and meditation.
- Booking terms are published: a full refund, less bank charges, for cancellations 15 days or more before arrival, sliding to no refund within 4 days. Packages of seven nights or more add complimentary airport transfers and a backwaters shikara ride.
Worth knowing before you choose
The beach is about 750 m away rather than on the doorstep. Meals are described as plant-based; ask us whether seafood is served if that matters to you.
Your accommodation
The rooms, and which one to ask for
- 01
Cherai Standard Room
Air conditioning, free WiFi, smart TV, safe locker, intercom and handicap accessible facilities. Per person a day, its page quotes ₹10,500 sharing or ₹13,000 alone; the stay-with-us page gives ₹12,000 sharing.
- 02
Cherai Deluxe Room
The same amenities as the standard room, at ₹13,500 per person sharing or ₹16,000 for one guest, per day.
Categories and names are as published by the property and are confirmed in writing at the quote. Where we would take a different room from the one the programme is quoted in, the note says so.
