The Mayr cure
Medically supervised digestive rest at the house that invented the category — and the first three days are genuinely miserable.

Where we are more careful than most of this industry, because the honest answer is not the one that sells best.
What is going on
A fortnight will move the number on the scale. Almost any residential programme will, because it removes alcohol, halves the portions and adds four hours of movement a day — and a meaningful part of what comes off in the first week is water. Anybody promising you a permanent result from two weeks is selling something.
What a good programme can genuinely do is different and more valuable: establish what is actually going on metabolically, with real diagnostics; break a set of habits in an environment where breaking them is easy; teach you to eat in a way you could sustain; and send you home with a protocol and somebody to report to. The houses that measure at the start and again at the end — laboratory work, body composition — are the ones worth the money, because you leave with evidence rather than a feeling.
And the ones worth avoiding are easy to spot: they sell colonics, they promise a number, and they do not ask you a single question before taking the booking.
What actually helps
Diagnostics and laboratory work at both ends, a physician-prescribed staged diet, and a genuine metabolic assessment rather than a calorie target.
For the houses where the issue is a stalled relationship with movement rather than a metabolic one — a full daily timetable rebuilds the habit without the gym.
Approaches weight through digestion and constitution rather than arithmetic, which suits people for whom counting has already failed repeatedly.
Expectations
The commonest complaint after a wellness stay is not that it failed — it is that it was not what the guest pictured. This block is here to remove that.
